LONNIE GILROY HAS BEEN APPOINTED THE TOM BROCK SCHOLAR FOR 2023

Congratulations to Lonnie Gilroy, who has been awarded the Tom Brock Scholarship for 2023. Lonnie is a filmmaker, podcaster and a Masters student. Lonnie’s project, Writing the Rugby League Film: Defining ‘The Greatest Game of All’ through genre is a textual analysis of Rugby League on film. Lonnie’s project will use a film genre studies framework to examine whether the existing canon of Rugby League films constitute a discernible ‘Rugby League’ film subgenre. This project forms part of Lonnie’s Masters degree in addition to the writing of a feature-lengbth Rugby League screenplay.
