We are thrilled to announce the awarding of the Tom Brock Scholarship and the Wes Smythe Award for a Community and Rugby League Project for 2024/25.
Among this year’s applicants for the Tom brock Scholarship were two outstanding candidates, and it is the decision of the Tom Brock Bequest Committee to award two scholarships for the 2024/25 financial year. Receving the $3000 scholarship will be Mike Meehall Wood and Brett Tweedie:
- Mike Meehall Wood’s project is titled ‘What You Get is What You See: A history of tactics in the full-time professional era of Rugby League’. You can read more about Mike’s project here.
- Brett Tweedie’s project is titled ‘Blue Collars, Football Boots? The socioeconomic environment of the towns & suburbs that gave birth to Australia’s first football clubs’. You can read more about Brett’s project here.
Receiving the $2000 Wes Smythe Award for a Community and Rugby League project is the submission by Robyn Mortimer in partnership with NRL Wheelchair Rugby League Victoria. You can read more about this project here.
